Box Score AMERICUS, Ga. – Vincent Machado Da Luz and Chris Hobbs scored two goals each Monday afternoon to lead the No. 11-ranked Lander men's soccer team to a 6-0 Peach Belt Conference victory over Georgia Southwestern at Hurricane Field.
The game was originally scheduled for last Saturday, but was postponed due to heavy rains.
Lander improves to 4-0-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the PBC, while GSW drops to 1-4-1, 0-1-0.
Machado Da Luz scored the Bearcats first two goals. His first score was unassisted at 23:22, then he made it 2-0 off an assist from Clement Dauchy at 30:32.
Lander took a 3-0 halftime lead when Kevin Durand fired in a rebound in front of the goal at 36:51.
The Bearcats tacked on three more scores in the second half. Hobbs netted his first goal at 67:58 on an assist from Durand; Lewis Blissett headed the ball in on an assist from Durand at 70:18; and Hobbs' unassisted second goal came at 75:30.
Lander outshot the Hurricanes, 25-4, and led in corner kicks, 8-4.
GSW goalkeepers Joe Cullip and Ryan Tucker had four saves each, while Lander's Barrett Nielsen had four.
