Box Score GREENWOOD – The Lander women's soccer team remained unbeaten and unscored on Saturday afternoon when the Lady Bearcats defeated Erskine, 6-0, in a non-conference game at the Jeff May Complex.
Lander improves to 4-0, while Erskine drops to 0-3.
Kimberly Kesler scored the first of her goals two at 2:39 to give Lander a 1-0 lead on an assist from Hilary Ferguson then netted an unassisted goal at 6:13 to stretch the Lander lead to 2-0.
The Bearcats made it 3-0 at 22:51 when Taylor Piorkowski found the back of the net on an assist from Kesler from directly in front of the goal.
Casey Black scored Lander's first goal of the second half on a penalty kick at 59:12 to put the Lady Bearcats up 4-0. Jenny Peterson followed with an unassisted goal at 77:45 to make it 5-0, and Fayla Junior fired in the final goal at 83:39.
Lander outshot Erskine, 34-2, and led in corner kicks, 13-2.
Erskine goalkeeper Ashton Burgess had 14 saves.
Lander next travels to Georgia Southwestern on Saturday, Sept. 21 to open the Peach Belt Conference portion of its schedule.
