Pegram tossed a one-hit, complete-game shutout and Chasity Davis' RBI double provided the game's only run as the Lander softball team defeated Augusta State 1-0 in the second game and earned a split in the Peach Belt Conference doubleheader at Jaguar Field. The Jaguars won the first game, 2-1.
Lander moves to 18-27 overall and 6-14 in the PBC, while Augusta State is 18-26, 7-9.
Pegram (6-9) earned the win after striking out four, walking one and allowing just one hit in seven innings.
ASU's Kristen Mills (8-5) suffered the loss after striking out four, walking one and allowing one earned run on five hits in seven innings.
In the first inning, Lander's Brittney Sheriff struck out, but reached first base on a wild pitch, then scored on Chasity Davis' RBI double.
Chasity Davis batted 2-for-3 to lead the Bearcats at the plate.
In the first game, Haley Birkle (6-12) was tagged the winner after striking out two, walking three and allowing one earned run on six hits in seven innings.
Lander's Amanda Hamby (2-4) took the loss, walking one and allowing two earned runs on four hits in six innings.
The Bearcats took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Taylor Donson doubled, advanced to third on the throw and scored on Sheriff's sacrifice fly.
ASU scored both its runs in the fifth on Hannah Vaughn's RBI double and Lauren Yeargan's groundout.
For Lander, Donson batted 3-or-4.
ASU's Vaughn went 2-for-3.
