Box Score 2 AIKEN – The USC Aiken softball team defeated Lander 5-0 and 2-1 Saturday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader at JH Satcher Field.
Lander ends the season 18-31 overall and 6-16 in the PBC, while USC Aiken moves to 24-20-1, 11-11.
In the first game, USCA's Indian Kornegay allowed just two hits in the complete-game shutout as she struck out 13.
Lander's Amanda Hamby (2-6) took the loss, striking out one, and allowing four earned runs on six hits in 1.1 innings pitched. Kelsey Davis pitched 4.2 innings of relief and struck out three and allowed five hits.
USCA took a 3-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Andrea Daring, an RBI double by Cortney Sadler and an RBI triple Kaitlyn White. The Pacers stretched their lead to 5-0 in the second on RBI singles by White and Lindsey Jones.
For USCA, Daring batted 3-for-3, Brittney Williamson 2-for-3 and White 2-for-4.
In the second game, USCA's Taylor Morgan (11-8) earned the win with three strikeouts, four walks and allowed four hits in 5.1 innings pitched.
Lander's M.K. Pegram (6-11) suffered the loss, striking out four, walking three and allowing two earned runs on five hits in six innings.
Lander scored first in the fourth inning when Bethany Beggs singled in Brittney Sheriff.
The Pacers tied at 1-all in the bottom half of the inning on Sadler's RBI double. USCA then went up 2-1 in the fifth on Jones' RBI single.
Sheriff went 2-for-2 for the Bearcats.
