FLORENCE – The eighth-seeded Lander women's tennis team fell to top-seeded and No. 1-ranked Armstrong Atlantic, 5-0, Friday afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Peach Belt Conference Tennis Tournament at the Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center.
Lander will move to the backend of the bracket where it will face the No. 4 Clayton State/No. 5 Georgia College loser at 8 a.m., Saturday. Armstrong, the defending national champion, advances to play the Clayton State/Georgia College winner at 8 a.m., Saturday.
Armstrong improves to 22-1 overall, while Lander moves to 9-10.
In doubles, No. 1 Aleksndra Filipovski/Barbora Krtickova (AASU) def. Tiffany Vanhpraseuth/Marion Courbis (LU) 8-0; No. 2 Marlen Hacke/Olga Kalodzitsa (AASU) def. Aurelai Ruffat/Ainhoa Rico Martin (LU) 8-0; and No. 3 Clara Perez/Natasa Vukovic (AASU) def. Renata Mello/Cayce Bradley (LU) 8-0.
After sweeping the doubles competition, the match was called when Armstrong won two singles and earn enough points for the victory.

Ainhoa Rico Martin (LU) 6-0, 6-0; No. 3 Marlen Hacke (AASU) vs. Tiffany Vanhpraseuth (LU) 6-0, unfinished; No. 4 Olga Kalodzitsa (AASU) vs. Cayce Bradley (LU) 6-1, unfinished; No. 5 Natasa Vukovic (AASU) vs. Aurelai Ruffat (LU) 6-4, unfinished; and No. 6 Jessica Gardefjord (AASU) vs. Lori Flick (LU) 6-2, unfinished.
