COLUMBUS, Ga. – August Iwdal scored the winning point at No. 6 singles to lead the eighth-ranked Lander men's tennis team to a 5-4 upset over No. 7 Columbus State University Saturday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference match at the Mary V. Blackmon Tennis Center.

Lander improves to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the PBC, while Columbus drops to 6-1, 3-1.

In singles, No. 1 Vincent Verpeaux (L) def. Gordan Divljak (CSU) 6-4, 6-3; No. 2 Quentin Rayniere (CSU) def. Samuel Poutignat (L) 7-6, 6-2; No. 3 Oscar Axelsson (L) def. Olivier Simonet (CSU) 3-6, 6-2, 6-0; No. 4 Marco Almorin (CSU) def. Adam Jonsson (L) 6-3, 7-5; No. 5 Danilo Sardelli (CSU) def. Diego Zegarra (L) 4-6, 6-1, 7-5; and No. 6 August Iwdal (L) def. Michael Trebuhov (CSU) 6-4, 6-4.

In doubles, No. 1 Adam Jonsson/August Iwdal (L) def. Marco Almorin/Olivier Simonet (CSU) 8-5; No. 2 Gordan Divljak/Quentin Rayniere (CSU) def. Paul-Henri Arrigoni/Vincent Verpeaux (L) 9-8; and No. 3 Oscar Axelsson/Samuel Poutignat (L) def. Danilo Sardelli/Michael Trebuhov (CSU) 8-4.
