GREENWOOD – The No. 8 Lander men's tennis team dropped two of three doubles matches, but bounced back to sweep the singles competition and score a 7-2 Peach Belt Conference victory over No. 9 Augusta State Thursday at The Joe Cabri Tennis Center.
Lander remains unbeaten at 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the PBC, while Augusta State drops to 2-3, 1-1.
In singles, No. 1 Paul-Henri Arrigoni (LU) def. Victor Cabellos (ASU) 6-4, 6-2; No. 2 Vincent Verpeaux (LU) def. Jan Labas (ASU) 6-1, 6-2; No. 3 Samuel Poutignat (LU) def. Victor Guimaraes (ASU) 4-6, 6-3, 10-6; No. 4 Adam Jonsson (LU) def. Romain Brunie (ASU) 6-4, 6-3; No. 5 Diego Zegarra (LU) def. Gustavo D'Ascenzi (ASU) 6-3, 6-1; and No. 6 Oscar Axelsson (LU) def. Gustav Anderson (ASU) 7-6, 7-5.
In doubles, No. 1 Victor Cabellos/Victor Guimaraes (ASU) def. August Iwdal/Adam Jonsson (LU) 9-8; No. 2 Jan Labas/Romain Brunie (ASU) def. Paul-Henri Arrigoni/Vincent Verpeaux (LU) 8-6; and No. 3 Oscar Axelsson/Samuel Poutignat (LU) def. Maxime Coulomb/Kenneth Guy Mooney (ASU) 8-4.
