Box Score EVANS, Ga. – Clayton State's Jency Ramirez took a pass from teammate Melissa Hetherington Friday afternoon and chipped it into the goal from eight yards out to give her top-seeded Lakers a 2-1, overtime victory over fourth-seeded Lander in the semifinal round of the Peach Belt Conference Women's Soccer Tournament at Blanchard Woods Park.
Clayton State improves to 12-3-5 overall and advances to Sunday's championship game where it will face the winner of second-seeded Columbus State/sixth-seeded Georgia College.
Sunday's winner receives the PBC's automatic berth into the NCAA Division II Tournament which will also be held at Blanchard Woods Park.
Lander moves to 13-5 and must now wait until Sunday evening to see if it will receive an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament. Lander's 13 wins ties a school record for victories in a season.
The Lady Bearcats struck first when Jaymee Gibbons put a shot into the right side of the goal at 12:00 on an assist from Kimberly Kesler.
Clayton State knotted the game at 1-1 after Jahmela Williams found the back from six yards out on an assist from Denisha Paskell at 20:07.
Ramirez's game winner came at 97:06.
Clayton State outshot Lander, 16-8, but the Lady Bearcats led in corner kicks, 7-3.
Lady Bearcat goalkeeper Katie Lyle grabbed five saves, while Clayton's Charlotte McCormack had two.
