Dauchy kicks Lander past Flagler in NCAA first round

Box Score

GREENWOOD – Clement Dauchy fired in a shot from 10 yards out Friday night to lead the Lander men's soccer team to a 1-0 overtime victory against Flagler College in a first-round NCAA Tournament game at the Jeff May Complex.

The Bearcats advance to the second round of the tournament and will play Queens University of Charlotte at 7 p.m., Sunday at the Jeff May Complex.

Lander improves to 11-5-1, while Flagler ends the season at 9-7-3. The victory avenges a loss earlier this season to Flagler when the Saints downed Lander, 2-1, in St. Augustine, Fla. on Oct. 19. The win was Lander's eighth shutout of the year.

Dauchy's game winning goal, his team-leading 15th of the season, came from directly in front of the goal off an assist from Michael Johansson at 92:44.

Lander outshot the Saints, 13-10, and led in corner kicks, 9-5.

Lander goalkeeper Barrett Nielsen had five saves, while Flagler's Camp Bissell grabbed four.
