Box Score GREENWOOD – Jorge Mackenna netted two goals Saturday night to lead the Limestone College men's soccer team to a 4-1 non-conference victory over Lander at the Jeff May Complex.
Limestone improves to 11-2 overall, while Lander moves to 8-4-1.
MacKenna gave Limestone a 1-0 lead at 3:19 when he chipped the ball over the goalkeeper's head. Sam Orritt assisted on the goal.
Mackenna and Orritt teamed up again – this time with a header in front of the net – at 12:55 to give the Saints a 2-0 lead.
Lander cut the margin to 2-1 at 43:42 when Brett Jankouskas headed the ball in off a Clement Dauchy assist.
The Saints stretched their lead to 3-1 after Larry Mahon fired in a free kick at 72:10, then the final goal came at 83:49 when Bryce Ziada punched in a missed shot by teammate Jack Bailey.
Lander outshot the Saints, 18-13, and led in corner kicks, 5-4.
Limestone goalkeeper Kyle Karagitz grabbed nine saves, while Lander's Barrett Nielsen had four.
The Bearcats will next travel to North Georgia for a 7 p.m. Peach Belt Conference contest on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
