Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Lander women's soccer team scored two first-half goals then held on to claim a 2-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over Flagler College Saturday evening at Saints Field.
Lander improves to 10-2 overall and 6-1 in the PBC, while Flagler drops to 4-8-2, 1-5-2.
The Lady Bearcats took a 1-0 lead at 12:10 when Kimberly Kesler scored her sixth goal of the year, from directly in front of the goal, on an assist from Nina Morales. Taylor Piorkowski stretched the Lander lead to 2-0 at 16:24 off an assist from Casey Black. It was Piorkowski's sixth goal of the season.
Flagler cut the Lander lead to 2-1 at 62:58 after Cassie Fernandez found the back of the net on an unassisted goal from 30 yards out.
Lander outshot the Saints, 8-6, and led in corner kicks, 5-2.
Flagler goalkeeper Casey Merson had five saves, while Lander's Katie Lyle totaled one.
