GREENWOOD – The Lander volleyball team lost a heartbreaker Wednesday night when USC Aiken overcame a 2-0 deficit to claim a 3-2 Peach Belt Conference contest at Horne Arena. Game scores were: 16-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-22, 21-19.

USC Aiken improves to 13-7 overall and 6-4 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 12-8, 3-7.

Kendall Korte and Tarryn Angermeier had 19 and 16 kills respectively for the Bearcats, while Jessica Register added 18 assists and 13 digs, Kristen Dodge 24 assists and 12 digs, Sarah Bradley 17 digs and Julia Ferreira-Alves 13 digs.

USCA was led by Taylor Stratton (16 kills), Ashley Diedrich (13 kills), Ashley Lind (12 kills), Amanda Bologna (35 assists, 12 digs), Sheila Walsh (20 assists, nine digs), Katie Toman (14 digs) and Shawn Hotson (12 digs).

Lander will next host GRU Augusta in a Peach Belt Conference match at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22 in Horne Arena.
