Box Score GREENWOOD – Clayton State's Nina Boganes netted the game-winner with less than two minutes to play Saturday afternoon to lead the Lady Lakers soccer team to a 2-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over previously unbeaten Lander at the Jeff May Complex.
Clayton improves to 7-3-3 overall and 4-0-2 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 9-1, 5-1.
Lander took a 1-0 lead at 2:09 when Kimberly Kesler found the back of the net on an assist from Casey Black.
The Lady Lakers tied the game tied the game at 1-all at 77:18 on a unassisted shot by Melissa Hetherington.
Boganes' game winner came at 88:18 on an assist by Alicia Robinson.
Clayton State outshot the Lady Bearcats, 11-7, but Lander led in corner kicks, 4-3.
Lander goalkeeper Katie Lyle had four saves, while Clayton State's Carlotte McCormack grabbed one.
The Lady Bearcats will next host Wingate in a non-conference contest beginning at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 16.
