Box Score GREENWOOD – Robert Seaton scored the winning goal from just inside the box Saturday afternoon to lead the No. 3-ranked Lander men's soccer team to a 3-2 Peach Belt Conference victory over rival Clayton State at the Jeff May Complex.
Lander improves to 7-1-1 overall and 4-1 in the PBC, while Clayton State drops to 7-2-2, 2-1-1.
Clement Dauchy and Kevin Durand gave Lander a 2-0 lead when they both scored unassisted goals at 20:25 and 25:41 respectively.
The Lakers Alhagi Touri single-handedly put Clayton State back in the game when he scored his first goal off an assist from Casey Shultis at 44:38, then knotted the game at 2-all on a penalty kick at 58:57.
Seaton's game winner, assisted by Michael Johansson, came at 91:47.
Lander outshot the Lakers, 15-10, and led in corner kicks, 3-1.
Clayton goalkeeper Nick Punter grabbed six saves, while Lander's Barrett Nielsen had four.
Lander will next host Wingate in a non-conference game at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 16 at the Jeff May Complex. The game will be videostreamed nationally on the NSCAA's website.
