AMERICUS, Ga. - The Lander men's basketball team shot just 32 percent from the field Wednesday night as they dropped a 64-54 Peach Belt Conference decision to Georgia Southwestern.

GSW improves to 8-11 overall and 4-8 in the PBC, while Lander slips to 6-11, 1-9.

Jareal Smith led Lander with 13 points and five assists, while Scott Elder added 11 points and six rebounds, and Dermaine Smith 10 points.

Jamon Hawkins led the Hurricanes with 17 points, while Matt Shaw added 12 points, Alan Arnett 10 points and eight rebounds, and Daryl Davis nine rebounds.

Lander connected on 18-of-56 floor shots (32.1 percent), including 9-of-24 threes (37.5 percent) and 9-of-19 free throws (47.4 percent).

The Hurricanes, which led 30-22 at halftime, were 22-of-40 from the field (55 percent), including 4-of-14 threes (28.6 percent) and 16-of-20 foul shots (80 percent).

GSW outrebounded Lander, 38-24.
