Box Score GREENWOOD – The Lander women's soccer team got goals from four different players Wednesday night en route to a 4-0 non-conference victory over Mars Hill College in its home opener at the Jeff May Complex.
Lander improves to 2-1-2 overall, while Mars Hill drops to 3-2.
Jamie Shaw netted what proved to be the winning goal at 5:07 on an unassisted shot from eight yards out on the left side. It was Shaw's second goal of the season.
Kimberly Kesler gave the Lady Bearcats a 2-0 lead when she scored her first goal of the season on an assist from Hilary Ferguson at 53:34.
Lander made it 3-0 at 78:53 after Nina Morales outran two Mars Hill defenders and found the back of the net for her first time this season from five yards out on the right side.
Lindsey White claimed her second goal of the year at 83:56 from 10 yards out for the game's final score on an assist from Miranda Barker.
Lander outshot Mars Hill, 20-1, and led in corner kicks, 4-3.
Mars Hill goalkeeper Tori Stajduhar tallied six saves.
