GREENWOOD – Clement Dauchy scored two goals and Matthew Bell added one to lead the Lander men's soccer team to a 3-0 season-opening victory over Newberry College Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game at the Jeff May Complex.

Lander is 1-0 overall, while Newberry is 0-1.

Bell gave Lander a 1-0 halftime lead at 37:28 when he scored off an assist from Kevin Durand.

Both Dauchy's goals came in the second half. Dauchy's first goal came at 71:23 on a shot that went past Newberry goalkeeper Nicholas Lucido off a long assist from Bell. He ended the scoring at 73:32 off an assist from Durand.

Lander outshot the Wolves, 12-7, and led in corner kicks, 5-3.

Bearcat goalkeepers Matthew Atkinson and Barrett Nielsen tallied one save each, while Lucido had four for the Wolves.

Lander will host Pfeiffer University at 7 p.m., Tuesday, in a non-conference contest.
