BREVARD, N.C. - The No. 11-ranked Lander men's tennis team swept all but one singles match Friday afternoon in defeating Brevard College, 8-1, in a non-conference match at the McCoy Tennis Complex.
Lander improves to 7-0 overall and Brevard is 1-2.
In singles, No. 1 Vincent Verpeaux (L) def. Sam MacNeil (B), 7-6, 6-1; No. 2 Beau Wills (B) def. Diego Zegarra (L), 6-4, 6-3; No. 3 Ross Armstrong (L) def. Rory Northam (B), 6-2, 6-2; No. 4. Maxime Desmars (L) def. Stefano Giovanolli (B), 6-1, 6-2; No. 5 Stefan Klemenz (L) def. George Finch (B), 6-3, 6-4; and No. 6 Gary Bertoldo (L) def. Rob Havens (B), 6-0, 6-2.
In doubles, No. 1 Verpeaux/Samuel Poutignat (L) def. MacNeil/Wills (B), 9-8; No. 2 Renato Assad/Klemenz (L) def. Northam/Giovanolli (B), 8-2; and No. 3 Desmars/Bertoldo (L) def. Jonathon Lavelle/George Finch (B), 8-0.
