HILTON HEAD ISLAND - The first-year Lander women's golf team finished third overall in a field of 10 teams Monday in the two-day, two-round Newberry College Invitational held at the Moss Creek Golf Club.

Armstrong Atlantic won the team competition with a low 628 strokes, and was followed by: 2. Newberry 650, 3. Lander 657, 4. USC Beaufort 667, 5. Pfeiffer 685, 6. Carson-Newman, 687, 7. Queens 710, 8. Coker 730, 9. Limestone 824, and 10. Mars Hill DNF.

Individually for Lander, Dea Mahendra finished eighth with 163 (80-83), Ashley Shinn was 11th with 165 (79-86), Mariana Martins (81-85) and Valentina Bueno (84-82) tied for 12th with 166, and Rachel Uremovich was 18th with 167 (84-83).
