Box Score MORROW, Ga. - The No. 24-ranked Lander men's soccer team won its sixth consecutive game Saturday afternoon and remained unbeaten in the Peach Belt Conference when the Bearcats defeated rival Clayton State, 2-1.
Lander improves to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in the PBC, while Clayton State moves to 4-6, 0-4.
After a scoreless first half, Lander took a 1-0 lead at 54:36 when Clement Dauchy scored from 15 yards out on a Clement Simonin assist. The goal was Dauchy's seventh of the season.
The Bearcats extended the lead to 2-0 at 58:53 after Robert Seaton scored off a cross from Kevin Durand. It was Durand's team-best 10th assist of the season.
The Lakers cut the Lander lead to 2-1 at 74:36 on Alhagi Toure's unassisted goal.
Clayton State's Donal Roughneen received a red cart at 75:19, forcing the Lakers to play one man down the remainder of the game.
Clayton State outshot Lander, 18-15, and also led in corner kicks, 8-2.
Lander goalkeeper Barrett Nielsen totaled seven saves, while the Lakers' Mark Sutton had six.
