Box Score GREENWOOD - Amalia Arvidsson scored two goals and had three assists Tuesday afternoon to lead the No. 7-seeded UNC Pembroke women's soccer team to a 5-1 first-round victory over second-seeded Lander in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament at the Jeff May Complex.
UNC Pembroke, which improves to 10-6-3 overall, advances to Friday's semifinal game against the No. 3 Columbus State/No. 6 Georgia College winner at 5 p.m., at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga. Lander moves to 10-4-3 overall.
UNC Pembroke took a quick 1-0 lead at 3:16 when Sherrie Gessin fired the ball in from 15 yards out on an Arvidsson assist.
Kendall Couch made the game 1-all for the Lady Bearcats at 14:47 when she found the back of the net from 10 yards out on the left side on an assist from Casey Black.
The Lady Braves regained the lead for good at 2-1 after Rae-Shawna Campbell scored on a one-on-one against Lander goalkeeper Kelsey Blair at 34:27 on Arvidsson's assist.
UNC Pembroke's Michelle Hernandez scored her first goal of the season on another Arvidsson assist at 74:01 to extend the Lady Brave lead to 3-1.
Arvidsson notched the final goals of the game when she scored on a breakaway at 81:07, then off an Ashley Anctil assist at 86:36.
Lander outshot UNC Pembroke, 19-12, and led in corner kicks, 3-1.
UNCP goalkeeper Britney Bennett recorded nine saves, while Lander's Blair had two.
