Box Score YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - Jamie Shaw netted two goals Wednesday afternoon to lead the Lander women's soccer team to a 4-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over Young Harris College.
Lander, which is ranked fifth in the Southeast Region, improves to 9-1-3 overall and 7-0-1 in the PBC, while Young Harris moves to 6-7, 2-6.
Young Harris took a 1-0 lead at 22:37 when Haley Holderfield nailed her sixth goal of the season on an assist from Whitney Thomas.
The Lady Bearcats responded two minutes later at 24:55 to tie the match at 1-all after Hilary Ferguson scored on a pass from Danielle Shaw. It was Ferguson's second goal of the season.
Shaw gave Lander its first lead of the game at 2-1 when she fired in her team-leading ninth goal of the season at 50:58 on an assist from Ferguson.
Sarah Piechocki's penalty kick, her second goal of the year, at 54:50 stretched the Lander lead to 3-1.
The Lady Bearcats netted the final goal at 59:52 on Shaw's second score of the game, which was assisted by Ferguson.
Lander outshot the Mountain Lions, 21-6, and led in corner kicks, 6-1.
YHC goalkeeper Taylor Erickson had four goals and Lander's Kelsey Blair recorded one.
