BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lander volleyball team went 1-1 Saturday at the Carolina Challenge when the Bearcats defeated St. Andrews, 3-0, and lost to No. 21 Wingate, 3-0.

The Bearcats are 2-2 overall.

In the first game, Wingate defeated Lander, 25-16, 25-20, 25-13.

Lander was led by Mallory Wasik (six kills, eight digs), Jessica Register (21 assists), and Madison Kubal (16 digs).

Wingate was led by Anna Hilton (10 kills, five block assists), Grace Krauser (10 kills), and Maggie Malone (11 digs).

In the second game, Lander defeated St. Andrews, 25-23, 25-7, 25-11.

For Lander, Hannah Dederick and Judith Slow had 10 and nine kills respectively, Register 32 assists and Kubal 12 digs.

St. Andrews was led by Allie Garland (six kills), and Ashleigh Fritter (six assists and six digs).
