HARTSVILLE - The Lander women's soccer team got goals from five different players Saturday afternoon en route to its first shutout of the season, a 5-0 non-conference victory over Coker College.
Lander improves to 2-0, while Coker drops to 0-2.
The Lady Bearcats took a 2-0 lead in the first half. Jamie Shaw gave Lander a 1-0 lead at 13:51 on an assist from Christina Barbour. The Bearcats made it 2-0 at 23:12 on Kimberly Kesler's unassisted goal at 23:12.
Lander stretched the margin to 3-0 after Barbour scored on an assist from Casey Black at 67:30.
Casi Jones and Miranda Barker netted the final goals for the Bearcats. Jones' goal, assisted by Lauren MacDonald, came at 83:48, and Barker's unassisted strike followed at 85:17.
Lander outshot Coker, 35-1, and led in corner kicks, 15-0.
Chelsea Beetch and Kristen Rahl shared the goalkeeping duties for Lander with Rahl getting the lone save. Coker's Lizz Morris had 15 saves.
