MARS HILL, N.C. – Kendall Couch and Casey Black scored one goal each Wednesday night to lead the Lander women's soccer team to its fourth straight victory, a 2-0 non-conference win over Mars Hill College.

Lander, in posting its fifth shutout of the season, improves to 6-1 overall, while Mars Hill slips to 4-3-1.

Couch gave Lander a 1-0 lead when she netted her third goal of the season off an assist from Christina Barbour at 15:30.

Black stretched the lead to 2-0 at 27:17 on her first goal of the season, a 20-yard shot into the left corner of the net.

Lander outshot the Lady Lions, 16-8, and led in corner kicks, 3-1.

Mars Hill goalkeeper Chelsea Parker recorded seven saves, while Lander's Chelsea Beetch had four.
