GREENWOOD – The Lander women's soccer team posted its fourth shutout of the season Saturday afternoon in defeating Clayton State, 2-0, in a Peach Belt Conference game at the Jeff May Complex.
Lander improves to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in the PBC, while Clayton State slips to 3-3, 0-1.
The Lady Bearcats scored both goals in the first half. Lander took a 1-0 lead at 38:01 when Christina Barbour fired the ball in from short range on an assist from Jamie Shaw.
A few minutes later Shaw extended the lead to 2-0 on an assist from Hilary Ferguson at 41:14.
Lander outshot Clayton State, 14-4, and led in corner kicks, 3-0.
Clayton State goalkeeper Laoise O'Driscoll tallied five saves, while Lander's Chelsea Beetch had three.
