GREENWOOD – Jaime Presnell's sixth-inning RBI triple led the Lander softball team to a 2-1 victory in game one as the Bearcats split their Peach Belt Conference doubleheader against Flagler College Sunday afternoon at Doug Spears Field. The Saints claimed the second game, 4-3.

Lander moves to 17-12 overall and 2-4 in the PBC, while Flagler is 28-10, 4-6.

In the first game, Lander's Hayley Leissner (10-7) earned the win, striking out five, walking three and allowing one earned run on four hits in the complete seven innings.

Flagler's Donna Munafo (5-3) took the loss, striking out four, walking one and allowing one earned run on six hits in six innings pitched.

Flagler went up 1-0 in the second after Sarah Albino's double to left field scored Robyn Draper.

Lander tied the game at 1-1 in the third when Casey Corbitt singled to left field, advanced to second on Brittney Sheriff's hopping single to the shortstop, and scored on a throwing error by the pitcher.

Rachelle Adkins scored the game-winning run on Presnell's RBI triple to left center.

For Lander, Presnell went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI and Chasity Davis went 2-for-3.

For Flagler, Albino was 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

In the second game, Flagler's Kelly Riddick (11-3) earned the win, striking out two, walking two and allowing two earned runs on three hits in 4.1 innings of work. Kalyn Loverich was awarded her third save of the year in 2.2 innings of relief.

Leissner suffered the loss for the Bearcats as she struck out two, walked three and allowed four earned runs on five hits in 4.2 innings.

Flagler leadoff batter Lauren Bessent gave the Saints a 1-0 lead in the first when she walked, advanced to second on Lauren Ely's sacrifice bunt, and scored on Breezy Collings' RBI single to left field.

Flagler stretched its advantage to 4-0 in the fifth after Albino scored from third on a wild pitch and Collings' RBI single to left field plated Ely and Alona Personius.

Lander rallied in the fifth to cut the Flagler lead to 4-3. Adkins led the rally with a solo homer run over the left field fence. Presnell then scored Sarah Fuller's double to right field and Corbitt went home on a Flagler throwing error.

For Lander, Adkins went 2-for-3 with one homer, while Fuller was 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

For Flagler, Bessent (1-for-3, one run) and Ely (1-for-3, one run) both doubled, while Collings went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
