CENTRAL - The Lander softball team earned its first doubleheader sweep of the season Saturday afternoon when the Bearcats took two from Southern Wesleyan, 10-0 and 6-4, in a non-conference action.
Lander improves to 5-1 overall, while Southern Wesleyan remains winless at 0-4.
In the first game, which Lander won in five innings due to the 8-run rule, Casey Corbitt (3-for-3, two runs, three RBI) and Rachelle Adkins (2-for-2, two runs, three RBI) both homered, while Alyssa Hartley (2-for-2, two runs, one RBI) doubled, and Brittney Sheriff went 3-for-3.
Hayley Leissner (3-0) earned the win for Lander as she struck out 10, walked two and allowed just three hits.
In the second game, Amanda Hamby notched the win as she struck out two, walked two and allowed two earned runs in three innings pitched.
Taylor Donson batted 1-for-3 with one double, one run and one RBI, while Arielle Buchholz went 3-for-3 with one run, and Sheriff went 2-for-4 with one run.
