Box Score GREENWOOD – The Lander volleyball team battled hard, but lost its final home game of the season to USC Aiken Wednesday night, 3-0, in a Peach Belt Conference game in Horne Arena. Game scores were: 25-21, 25-23, 25-22.
USC Aiken improves to 15-13 overall and 7-5 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 13-15, 3-9.
Magi Nottingham led the Bearcats in kills with eight, while Jessica Register had 16 assists and nine digs, Katelyn Kraft 14 assists, Madison Kubal 16 digs, and Kiki Hennessey 14 digs. Hannah Dederick added six kills, one block and two block assists.
USC Aiken was paced by Shannon Byers (9 kills, 16 digs), Ashley Farwell (20 assists), Sheila Walsh (14 assists), and Samantha Lukralle (20 digs).
The Pacers recorded a .168 hitting percentage, compared to Lander's .103.
The Bearcats will close out the regular season this weekend in Florida. Lander will face No. 15 Armstrong Atlantic in a PBC contest at 7 p.m., Friday in Savannah, then travel to St. Augustine to play Flagler at 2 p.m., Saturday in their final PBC match. Following the Flagler game, Lander will meet Lynn University in a non-conference match.
