GREENWOOD – The No. 11-ranked Lander men's soccer team suffered its first Peach Belt Conference loss of the season Saturday afternoon when the Bearcats fell to the University of Montevallo, 2-0, at the Jeff May Complex.
Montevallo improves to 8-2-2 overall and 4-0-1 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 6-4-1, 3-1-0
The Falcons took a 1-0 lead at 28:26 when Phil Jackson found the back of the net on an assist from Ricky Davey.
Shane Howard stretched the margin to 2-0 at 70:28 when he fired in an assist from Alex Morton.
Lander outshot the Falcons, 6-5, and led in corner kicks, 3-1.
Montevallo goalkeeper Brendan Ledgeway had four saves, while Lander's Scott Playle posted one.
