PEMBROKE, N.C. - Amalia Arvidsson scored three goals Saturday afternoon to lead the UNC Pembroke women's soccer team to a 4-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over Lander in the regular-season finale for both teams.
UNCP improves to 9-5-3 overall and 4-4-2 in the PBC, while Lander slips to 12-4-1, 5-4-1.
Arvidsson started her hat trick in the first minute of the game when she found the net at 00:53 off an assist from Fanny Forsman. She made it 2-0 on an unassisted goal at 28:15, then stretched the Lady Brave lead to 3-0 at 74:50 off an assist from Alisia Gustafson.
Lander cut the lead to 3-1 at 88:45 when Christina Barbour put back one of her own missed shots.
The Lady Braves made it 4-1 on the ensuing possession on Cassie DeQueiroz's goal at 89:56.
Statistically, the game was evenly matched as UNCP led Lander in shots, 16-15, and both teams had four corner kicks.
UNCP goalkeeper Britney Bennett had five saves, while Lander's Chelsea Beetch totaled four.
Lander will host a first-round game in the PBC Tournament on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the Jeff May Complex. The time and opponent have yet to be determined.
