GREENWOOD – Lander's Magi Nottingham and Jessica Register each posted double-doubles Wednesday night, but the Bearcats four-game winning streak came to an end in a 3-1 non-conference loss to Newberry College in Horne Arena. The Wolves won, 27-25, 25-11, 18-25, 25-20.

Newberry improves to 13-12, while Lander slips to 12-13.

Nottingham totaled a game-high 14 kills and added 14 digs, while Register had 41 assists and 11 digs. Rebekah Davis chipped in 12 kills, while Madison Kubal had 21 digs and Kiki Hennessey 19 digs. Kubal also had a pair of service aces.

Newberry was led by Lauren Prachar (13 kills, 9 digs), Blair Browning (33 assists, 11 digs), Samantha Parrish (21 digs, 5 block assists), Lindsey Hollingsworth (14 digs), Elayni Stokes (16 digs) and Jessica King (8 block assists).

Lander will next host Francis Marion at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28, in a Peach Belt Conference game in Horne Arena.
