DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Lander women's soccer team's second-half rally fell short Saturday afternoon as the Lady Bearcats fell to No. 13 North Georgia, 2-1, in a Peach Belt Conference contest.
North Georgia improves to 13-1 overall and 8-1 in the PBC, while Lander slides to 12-3-1, 5-3-1.
The Lady Saints took a 2-0 first-half lead when Emily Dover scored an unassisted goal at 9:45, and Caroline Wallace found the back of the net off a double-assist from Melanie Thompson and Megan Morrow at 41:26.
Lander trimmed the lead to 2-1 at 75:15 when Jamie Shaw scored her ninth goal of the season off a Christina Barbour assist.
North Georgia outshot Lander, 14-7, and led in corner kicks, 6-3.
Lander goalkeeper Chelsea Beetch recorded three saves, while North Georgia's Taylor Fragnito had two.
