GREENWOOD – Brett Jankouskas and Chris Hobbs scored two goals each Wednesday night to lead the Lander men's soccer team to a 6-0 Peach Belt Conference victory over USC Aiken at the Jeff May Complex.
Lander improves to 7-5-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the PBC, while USCA drops to 3-8-3, 1-4-2.
The Bearcats took a quick 1-0 lead when Jankouskas fired in his eighth goal of the season at 3:15 on an assist from Matthew Osmond.
The Bearcats extended the lead to 2-0 at 24:11 when Chris Hobbs popped in a shot from in front of the goal off Matthew Bell's corner kick. It was Hobbs' team-leading ninth goal of the year.
Lander added four more goals in the second half when Hobbs (10th goal) nailed a penalty kick at 52:15, Jankouskas netted his ninth goal at 58:59, Clement Dauchy scored his third goal on an assist from Clement Simonin at 69:11 and Simonin followed with his unassisted first goal at 89:11.
The Bearcats outshot USCA, 16-6, and led in corner kicks, 5-2.
USCA goalkeepers Robert Bolender and Joshua Poissant had three saves each, while Lander's Matthew Atkinson had two.
