AMERICUS, Ga. - The Lander men's soccer team battled Georgia Southwestern for 110 minutes Saturday afternoon before having to settle for a 1-1 tie in a Peach Belt Conference game at Hurricane Field.
Lander moves to 6-5-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the PBC, while Georgia Southwestern goes to 3-8-2, 0-4-1.
After a scoreless first half, the Hurricanes took a 1-0 lead at 55:46 when Shane McKay found the back of the net from 20 yards out on an assist from Mauricio Chaves.
Lander's Tim Hocke forced the overtime when he scored his first goal of the season at 76:47 on a header off a Michael Johansson corner kick.
The Bearcats outshot GSW, 14-11, while the Hurricanes led in corner kicks, 6-5.
Lander goalkeeper Matthew Atkinson and GSW's Cade Jones recorded six saves each.
