HARTSVILLE - Carlos Recinos' second goal of the night proved to be the game-winner as the No. 11 Coker College men's soccer team defeated Lander, 3-2, in a non-conference game Wednesday night.
Coker improves to 11-1 overall, while Lander drops to 6-5-1.
The Cobras took an early 1-0 lead at 7:22 when Stephen Scrivens scored on an assist from Recinos. The Cobras extended the lead to 2-0 at 10:10 after Recinos score his first goal off a pass from Rommel Fondin.
Lander trimmed the margin to 2-1 at 23:58 on Chris Hobbs' unassisted goal.
The Bearcats, who have been ranked in the NSCAA Top 20 twice this season, tied the game at 2-2 at 26:55 on Brett Jankouskas goal, assisted by Michael Johansson.
Recinos scored the game winner at 30:21 off an assist from Alan Cuevas.
Coker outshot Lander, 22-8, and led in corner kicks, 8-1.
Lander goalkeeper Scott Playle recorded six saves, while Coker's James Sweeney had two.
