YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The Lander men's soccer team scored two second-half goals Sunday afternoon to defeat Christian Brother's University, 3-1, in a non-conference contest at Young Harris College.
Lander improves to 1-2 overall, while Christian Brothers drops to 1-3.
CBU took a 1-0 lead just 9:17 in the the match when Adamandios Toras scored off an assist from Andrew Ballard.
Lander's Aaron Brittain, the 2008 PBC Player of the Year, tied the game at 1-1 at 25:04 off a corner kick from Jamie Davison.
The Bearcats' Zach Acree earned what proved to be the game-winning goal at 69:49 on a long assist from Trent Aludrick. Lander then added a security goal at 81:41 when Acree fed the ball to Craig Hughes, whose shot beat the goalkeeper at the near post.
Lander outshot Christian Brothers, 17-13, and led in corner kicks, 8-2.
Bearcat goalkeeper Matthew Anderson recorded five saves, while CBU's Robbie Laing had five and Daniel Johnson two.
