GREENWOOD - The Lander women's soccer team rallied from a 2-0 deficit Saturday afternoon before falling to No. 16 Armstrong Atlantic State University, 3-2, in overtime in the Peach Belt Conference opener for both teams.
Armstrong Atlantic improves to 2-0-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the PBC, while Lander suffers its first loss of the season and is 3-1, 0-1.
The Pirates Kristina Pascutti scored the winning goal at 94:02 from in front of the goal off an assist from Erin O'Rourke.
AASU jumped out to a 2-0 first-half lead when Brooke Lamberth found the back of the net off Danielle Fey's corner kick at 35:43, followed by Emily Cattanach's score off a free kick at 42:55.
Christin Moss gave the Lady Bearcats their first score at 50:51 when she blasted in a Rachel Datz miss from in front of the goal.
Lander tied the game at 2-2 at 81:35 thanks to the sister act of Jamie and Danielle Shaw. Jamie netted the goal on an assist from Danielle.
AASU outshot Lander 13-9, but the Lady Bearcats led in corner kicks, 9-6.
Pirate goalkeeper Tracey Mitchell had three saves, while Lander's Katherine Baltz and Chelsea Beetch had two each.
