ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The No. 16 Flagler men's tennis team, led by a sweep in the doubles matches, upset No. 14 Lander, 5-4, Saturday afternoon in a Peach Belt Conference match at the Flagler Tennis Center.
Flagler improves to 12-6 overall and 5-3 in the PBC, while Lander slips to 13-3, 4-2.
In the No. 1 singles match, Lander's Paul-Henri Arrigoni, who is ranked No. 25 nationally, upset Flagler's sixth-ranked David Cotrone, 6-2, 6-1. In other singles matches, No. 2 Levan Clark (L) def. Harry Snoxell (F), 7-5, 6-3; No. 3 Gino Ramirez (F) def. Christopher Mattsson (L), 6-2, 6-3; No. 4 Peter Coulis (F) def. Henrik Willers (L), 6-4, 7-6; No. 5 Pierre Frances (L) def. Tim Hansson (F), 4-6, 6-1, 6-3; and No. 6 Juan Manrique (L) def. Elio Bianciardi (F), 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles, No. 1 Cotrone/Ramirez (F) def. Clark/Frances (L), 8-3; No. 2 Snoxell/Hansson (F) def. Mattsson/Willers (L), 8-4; and No. 3 Engel/Coulis (F) def. Arrigoni/Desmars (L), 8-4.
