GREENWOOD - The Lander baseball team posted three five-run innings Monday afternoon as the Bearcats completed their three-game sweep of St. Andrews Presbyterian College with a 15-1 non-conference win at Legion Field.
Lander improves to 3-0 overall, while St. Andrews drops to 0-3.
The Bearcats, who scattered 13 hits, posted five runs each in the third, fourth and seventh innings, while St. Andrews scored its lone run in the fifth.
Cory Hopper (1-0) earned the win for the Bearcats as he struck out eight, and allowed just one run on three hits in six innings. DJ Stinson (0-1) suffered the loss as he allowed four runs on three hits in three innings pitched.
For the Bearcats, Joe Tebaldi went 4-for-4 with one double, one run scored and three RBI, while Bud Lanier went 2-for-4 with one double and two runs scored and Pete Hernandez batted 1-for-1 with one double, two runs scored and one RBI. Brooks Reames also went 2-for-3.
St. Andrews' Michael Cantwell batted 1-for-4 with one double.
