Lander Falls to No. 6 North Greenville

TIGERVILLE, S.C. - The Lander baseball team struggled to generate offense in an 11-2 loss to No. 6 North Greenville on Tuesday afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field.

The Trailblazers built an early 5-0 lead, but Niel Stam helped keep Lander within reach. The freshman worked five innings, stranding four runners while striking out five.

North Greenville added two runs in the sixth before breaking the game open with a four-run eighth inning.

Lander's best opportunity came in the fifth when the Bearcats loaded the bases with two outs but were unable to push a run across.

The Bearcats were limited to four hits on the afternoon, with their only runs coming on a two-run homer from Carter McCormick in the ninth inning.

Lander opens its final home series of the season Thursday against USC Aiken, with first pitch set for 5 p.m. Game two is scheduled for Friday at 5 p.m., with the series finale set for Saturday at 3 p.m.
