AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Lander men's basketball team ended its season Saturday night against one of the best teams in the country as the Bearcats fell to No. 3-ranked Augusta State, 82-55, in their Peach Belt Conference finale at Christenberry Fieldhouse.
Augusta improves to 25-2 overall and 17-1 in the PBC, while Lander moves to 11-16, 5-13.
Dane Sparrow led the Lander attack with a game-high 22 points on 7-of-16 field goals and 6-of-6 free throws to go along with a team-high six rebounds. Da'Shon Bailey added 11 points
Alex Smith led ASU with 21 points and seven rebounds, while Tye Beal had 13 points and Greg Hire 11. Fred Brathwaite led the Jaguars in rebonds with 10.
The Bearcats connected on 17-of-43 field goals (2-of-9 threes) for 39.5 percent and 19-of-26 free throws for 73.1 percent.
The Jags were 29-of-58 (7-of-21 threes) from the field for 50 percent and made 17-of-24 foul shots for 70.8 percent.
