BREVARD, N.C. - The No. 38-ranked Lander women's tennis team suffered only its second loss of the season Friday afternoon when the Lady Bearcats were defeated by Brevard College, 6-3, in a non-conference match.

Lander is 6-2 overall, while Brevard improves to 1-2.

In singles, No. 1 Lindsay Shaeffer (BC) def. Brandi Cordell (L), 4-6, 6-0, 6-4; No. 2. Aurelia Ruffat (L) def. Lindsay Hostetter (B), 6-7, 6-3, 6-0; No. 3 Claire Dillman (B) def. Eliza Adusumilli (L), 4-6, 6-2, 6-0; No. 4 Nicola James (L) def. Kayley Duval (B), 6-2, 7-5; No. 5. Kim Dixon (B) def. Caitlin Fell (L), 6-1, 7-5; and No. 6 Melanise Newbold (L) def. Elise Labus (B), 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.

In doubles, No. 1 Kim Dixon/Lindsay Shaeffer (B) def. Brandi Cordell/Aurelia Ruffat (L), 8-3; No. 2 Claire Dillman/Lindsay Hostetter (B) def. Nicola James/Caitlin Fell (L), 8-2; and No. 3 Jennifer Nyman/Kayley Duval (B) def. Eliza Adusumilli/Ana Luiza Zaia (L), 8-6.
