PEMBROKE, N.C. - The No. 38-ranked Lander women's tennis team recorded its fourth shutout of the season Sunday afternoon when the Lady Bearcats defeated UNC Pembroke, 9-0, in a Peach Belt Conference contest.

Lander improves to 5-1 overall and 1-1 in the PBC, while UNCP drops to 1-2, 0-2.

In singles, No. 1 Brandi Cordell (LU) def. Mia Winterbottom (P), 6-0, 6-1; No. 2 Aurelia Ruffat (LU) def. Meredith Pierson (P), 7-5, 7-5; No. 3 Eliza Adusumilli (LU) def. Maricel Quintero (P), 6-4, 6-2; No. 4 Nicola James (LU) def. Janna Oxendine (P), 6-2, 6-2; No. 5 Melanise Newbold (LU) def. Christian Minnick (P), 6-4, 6-3; and No. 6 Ana Luiza Zaia (LU) def. Beverly Vause (P), 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles, No. 1 Cordell/Ruffat (LU) def. Quintero/Oxendine (P), 8-0; No. 2 Adusumilli/James (LU) def. Winterbottom/Pierson (P), 8-0; and No. 3 Zaia/Newbold (LU) def. Minnick/Vause (P), 8-0.
