GAFFNEY - The Limestone men's soccer team used two first-half goals to pace the Saints to a 4-1 non-conference victory over Lander Wednesday afternoon at Saints Field.
Limestone improves to 7-3 overall, while Lander drops to 4-5.
Lee Smyth gave Limestone a 1-0 lead at 16:09 on an assist from Scott Wells, then went up 2-0 when Marvin Hudson found the back of the net on an assist from Smyth at 39:46.
Lander cut the margin to 2-1 at 55:36 on Jamie Davison's goal on an assist from Craig Hughes.
Limestone bounced back at 68:09 to take a 3-1 advantage on Joe Barber's unassisted goal. The Saints' final score came when Wells scored off a double-assist from Hudson and Tom Morris at 87:54.
The Saints outshot Lander, 20-15, and led in corner kicks, 9-5.
Limestone goalkeeper H.B. Lockwood recorded six saves, while Lander's Matthew Atkinson had five.
Lander will host Flagler at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in a Peach Belt Conference contest.
