GREENWOOD - The Lander women's soccer team earned its first Peach Belt Conference win of the season Saturday afternoon when the Lady Bearcats defeated Georgia Southwestern, 2-0.
Lander improves to 6-5 overall and 1-4 in the PBC, while Georgia Southwestern drops to 2-7, 0-3.
The Lady Bearcats scored both their goals in the first 10 minutes of the game. Sam Vickers gave Lander a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal from 20 yards at 5:11.
Four minutes later Jessica Skowron made it 2-0 when she found the back of the net on a header off a Kendall Couch assist at 9:13.
Lander outshot the Lady Hurricanes, 19-1, and led in corner kicks, 7-1.
GSW goalkeeper Amber Bahri had two saves, while Lander's Chelsea Beetch had one.
