GREENWOOD - Andy Ludewig and Fred Parker each scored first-half goals Saturday afternoon to lead the Lander men's soccer team to a 2-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over UNC Pembroke.
Lander remains unbeaten in the PBC as the Bearcats improve to 7-5 overall and 5-0 in the league. UNCP drops to 3-8-2, 1-5-1.
Ludewig gave Lander the lead for good when he found the back of the net at 28:41 on an assist from Craig Hughes.
Parker extended the Lander lead to 2-0 lead at 43:41 on an assist from Adam Wolf.
The Braves cut the margin to 2-1 at 65:12 when Andrew Brown scored on a Braxton Perkins assist.
Lander outshot the Braves, 11-8, and led in corner kicks, 5-3.
UNCP goalkeeper Ryan Hanson grabbed five saves, while Lander's Matthew Atkinson had four.
Lander next plays at Francis Marion at 4 p.m., Monday, Oct. 18 in a Peach Belt Conference makeup game.
