AIKEN - The Lander men's soccer team remained unbeaten in the Peach Belt Conference Wednesday night when the Bearcats used a goal early in the second half to defeat USC Aiken, 2-1, at the Pacer Pit.
Lander improves to 6-5 overall and 4-0 in the PBC, while USC Aiken drops to 1-8-2, 0-4-1.
Aaron Brittain, the 2008 PBC Player of the Year, netted the first goal of the game on a double assist from Jamie Davison and Craig Hughes at the 14:28 mark. It was Brittain's fifth goal of the season.
The Pacers tied the game at 1-1 at 20:12 on Paul Beckman's header off Schevon Joseph's corner kick.
Zach Acree scored the game's winning goal at 55:26 on a header off Trent Uldrick's assist.
Lander outshot USCA, 18-15, but the Pacers led in corner kicks, 7-5.
Lander goalkeeper Matthew Atkinson and USCA's Robert Bolender had five saves each.
The Bearcats will host UNC Pembroke in a PBC contest at 3:30 p.m., Saturday.
