DAHLONEGA, Ga. - The Lander women's soccer team secured its first Peach Belt Conference victory of the season Saturday afternoon when the Lady Bearcats defeated North Georgia, 3-1.
Lander is 5-1-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the PBC, while North Georgia dropped to 4-2-1, 1-1-0.
Lander quickly took a 1-0 lead when Christina Barbour scored on an assist from Kelley Maupin at 4:43.
The Lady Saints notted the game at 1-1 on a final shot right before halftime as Natalie Douglass found the back of the net on an assist from Kelsey Martin at 44:58.
Lander regained the lead for good at 50:26 as Christin Moss scored on an assist from Maupin. The Lady Bearcats' Taylor Jackson added an unassisted insurance goal at 63:28
North Georgia outshot Lander 6-4, and led in corner kicks, 5-2. Lander goalkeeper Chelsea Beetch recorded four saves.
Lander will host Georgia College in a Peach Belt Conference game at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 30.
