GREENWOOD - Katie Beal and Justine Burkhardt each posted double-doubles Saturday afternoon to lead the Flagler College volleyball team to a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over Lander in Horne Arena. The Saints won, 22-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-21.
Flagler improves to 8-8 overall and 1-1 in the PBC, while Lander is 8-4, 1-2.
Burkhardt had 14 kills and 12 digs, while Beale recorded 12 kills and 12 digs to lead the Saints. Meg Weathersby added 17 kills and nine digs in the win, while Olivia Snipes had 29 assists and nine digs, Rebecca Royal 18 assists and Casey Gnann 19 digs. Beale and Burkhardt had two service aces each.
Lander was led by Candace LaRocca, who registered a double-double with 39 assists and 11 digs. Kendall Eayrs added 12 kills and three block assists, Magi Nottingham had 11 kills and nine assists, Melissa McCracken nine kills, and Chelsey Corgan 15 digs. Corgan, Stephanie Garrett and McCracken each had two service aces.
Flagler had a .266 hitting average for the match, while Lander hit .176.
The Bearcats next travel to Augusta State on Wednesday, Sept. 23 for a 7 p.m. PBC match.
